At the beginning of the year I wrote about my "To Be Read" list, and more particularly the books that have been on that list for some time that I have deemed "must be read in 2017". These are books that I have really wanted to read, but that have inevitably moved down my list as new books have piqued my interest. Carrie Gelson, who blogs at There's a Book For That, hosts the #MustReadin17 challenge. As we are now a third of the way through the year (!), it is time to report in and share how we are progressing with our lists.
To this point I have read nine, or 27% of the books on my #MustReadin2017 list. The titles I originally chose are depicted below, and the ones I've completed are marked with the dates I completed them.
Since a good number of the books I completed were picture books, I have some ground to make up– but I'm not too far off the mark. It is funny to me how, even though it's only been 3 months since I made my list, there are already things about it I would change. I know that this happens to everyone who mades a #MustRead list. One of the factors that has impacted my thinking is that I learned I will be teaching 3rd graders next year. I had originally thought I'd have 3rd and 5th grades. Many of the books I chose I chose because of my fifth graders. Now I'm thinking I need to read more books that will be popular and accessible to my 3rd grade gifted kids next year.
If you are interested in reading any of my reviews of the books I've finished, I've included the links to each below– just click the title to go to my Goodreads review.
I'm excited to see what everyone else has been reading! Good luck, fellow readers, on the 2nd leg of this challenge!
